Hate Dept. - Steven Seibold:
I was asked to participate early in the planning of this tribute. My life has been too busy and chaotic to agree to anything whatsoever, so my answer to every question is simply 'no'. As the tracks were being collected and the final deadline neared, my friend John Glabach who was instrumental in bringing Hate Dept. to Wellington Colorado for Machinefest in 2019, asked again if I could fill in for submission that didn't (or couldn't) materialize. Of course the song is 'The Thin ice'; and when I read the title of the song, I involuntarily agreed. I'm a reasonably big fan of Pink Floyd and especially The Wall. I saw the film in an auditorium as a teen with my band-mates. In 1999, I was very lucky to make a record with Bob Ezrin who produced The Wall for Pink Floyd, and many of the records I've cherished my entire life. I'm a disproportionately blessed human being, but I've also made inordinate compromises to peruse this art-form of music. I paid respect the epic beauty and caution of the song using tools that make my music both sweet
and bitter, with a current audio clip from our dark times.
